In these videos the sixteen week old pups are being handled by people new to them, and the handlers are new to Maremmas. Added to that the pups have never seen chickens.
Training is a process. It isn’t (can’t be) about perfection. It is doing your best at any given time with what you understand about training thus far. Mistakes happen – that’s fine! Dogs are forgiving creatures as long as patience and kindness are present.
In the long video you will see handling that will go better the next time but overall you will see the pups enjoy meeting the chickens and going on this new adventure.
